Losing It… New Section of My Blog

Instead of keeping track of a new blog, I’m just going to post my weight/health issues under the tag of “Losing It” and then have a link that points to all of them. This way I can keep things in one place.

With my recent diagnosis, I need to change my lifestyle and focus more on my health. I need to lose weight for sure (hence the “losing it” title). I just need to become more healthy in general.

Besides that our health insurance choices are changing and they are offering a “Healthy” version of an HMO which requires members to join programs to lose weight and follow doctor’s orders to lessen the out-of-pocket cost of the healthcare. I am really leaning towards going this route because I think if I do, it will help hold me accountable.

I have no guilt – which is not a good thing – so when it comes to “messing up my diet” I don’t even feel remotely bad or have any remorse. To me, I’d rather just not cheat at all not because I’ll feel bad, but because when I do cheat it leads to other unhealthy choices and now I really can’t afford to do that.

I joined Weight Watchers a while back with the full intention of working through the program online. I bought materials, got the apps for my phone, set up the blog to record my progress and then never even did the program. Not good.

Problem is, I did the Weight Watchers program in the past and my mind kind of automatically thinks that way when thinking about diets and healthy foods to eat.

This is a good thing, but with the Diabetes, I am totally confused about carbs and whatnot. I got some information recently to go over and have been reading things online but I am just still really confused and my sugar has been a bit higher and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I probably need to see a dietician, but I am really going to try to do it on my own for a little bit.

I’ve lost 14 lbs since by diagnosis, so I am heading in the right direction.

46078_464809911339_328367361339_6481917_2330644_nA while back when I was listening to weight loss podcasts (and following WW correctly!) I came across a podcast called “The Reasonable Diet.” I had joined their newsletter list and an email came to me this week about joining a program for $2.00 for a month. 2 bucks? How could I pass that up?

So, I joined this “Lose 20 lbs in 12 weeks” Self Paced program. I like The Reasonable Diet’s philosophy. I need to make changes in my entire life, not just in the foods I am eating right now. This has to be long term. This has to be a lifetime change.

The Reasonable Diet page is http://www.reasonablediet.com

I’m going to give it a go.

I am going to try.

While I was going over the materials for this program, there was a quote that I like and I think is fitting.

“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right.’ Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” – Napoleon Hill
