It’s a Monday… Check Out Olan Rogers!

April 28, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: review, smile | 1 Comment

I don’t know if I’ve written about this before, but I have mad love for Olan Rogers.

He is HILARIOUS!! And he’s adorable.

Look at him! His cat’s named Starscream.

He has a YouTube channel and has a number of videos where he tells stories. I laugh so hard every. single. time!!! Like, tears coming out of my eyes laughing.

My very favorite video is called Ghost In the Stalls. Hilarious. OMG. I still laugh every time I watch it.

I think he’s funny because he cracks himself up while he tells the stories. And he doesn’t swear but says things like, “What the poop?” which is pretty funny.

He also has made a number of non story telling videos that are pretty funny. And makes videos for Fandango that are called Admit One.

Olan made a video about his fear – or maybe hate is a better word – of moths. I can totally relate to this because moths are horrible!! They fly all around your face and when you kill them THEY LEAVE DUST. That is not natural.

Quick story… a number of years back, my husband and I lived with my sister and nephew. My sister and I were sitting in the living room watching TV one night and I looked over at the lamp and there was a moth on the shade.

I swear to God, it was at least as big as a baseball. The sucker was HUGE!

I immediately started freaking out and then so did my sister. We threw things at it and I can’t even tell you what happened with the thing. I just know it was horrific and huge and i freaked out.

I don’t do moths. <<shudder>>

So me and Olan are pretty much on the same page as far as moths go.

If you have some time and want to watch something funny you should definitely check his channels out. You won’t be sorry!!

Do you have a favorite YouTuber?? Leave me a comment!

GlassLock – New Favorite Lunch Containers

April 26, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: review | Leave a Comment

I have tried out a number of different containers for bringing food in for lunch and breakfast at work – Tupperware, Gladware, Ziploc containers, dollar store containers, Rubbermaid… you name it, I’ve tried it.

I don’t like the taste of food that has been reheated in plastic that’s been washed in the dishwasher. To me it always tastes like soap. It may be in my head, but I can always smell dirty dishes and dishwasher soap when reheating them in the microwave.

A little while ago, like a couple years, I got some Pyrex glass containers. I like using these containers and try not to reheat food with the cover on to spare me from the soap smell and taste.

However, the lids leak and if I bring something liquid, like milk for cereal, it leaks all over my lunch bag and makes a mess!

I’ve been looking for new glass containers that don’t leak and have various lunch sizes available.

That brings me to GlassLock.

I read a recent review on a blog and I was intrigued because I was looking for a different glass container that didn’t leak.  So I ordered a set on Amazon.

Let me tell you about these containers; I have some serious love for them.

First, they do not leak. YAY!! Finally! A lunch container that does not leak. They have a rubber ring inside the lid that causes them to be leak proof and air tight. Awesome stuff there. The lids fit really snug too. I like the snap lock feature of them.

Second, they are heavy weight. You’d think that I wouldn’t want to lug in heavy glass containers to work on a daily basis, but I like that they are heavy and glass. Perfect for my issue with dishwasher soap smell and I can remove the lid for reheating. (I don’t think the lid is microwave proof anyway)

And Finally, they are see through (because they’re glass, duh), oven friendly if you like that sort of thing, freezer friendly, and they stack inside each other well for storage.

The set I bought was this one. The containers are a little bigger than I need for lunches, but they are a good size for cooking and leftovers. I will have to find a set that includes some smaller sizes for my lunch and breakfasts.

Have you found lunch bag sized containers that you like more than others? Share them in the comments!

Till next time…

Commissioned Digital Art

April 6, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: Instagram, k9epilepsy, review, smile, zoo | Leave a Comment

I am so excited!! I commissioned an artist I found, quite by accident, on Instagram to create a digital portrait of two of our animals.

I definitely wanted Topaz and had her choose one of the cats. She chose Snorty!!

Here’s how they came out:

topazdrawingsnorts

The photo used of Topaz was taken hours after he had a seizure and I took the one of Snorty today.

I love them both!! We will definitely be commissioning her to do the rest of the zoo. Gotta get them done in shifts though. I’d LOVE to get them printed and frame them for the living room. That would be sweet!

The artist’s Instagram pages are: @drawn_to_your_dog_kianaleilani and @drawn_to_your_cat_kianaleilani.

We commissioned her on her website: http://kianaleilani.weebly.com/ and we paid $30.00 for the two of them.

I am creative – not bragging, just a fact – but I cannot imagine being able to create something like that.

I love digital art!!!

I’m glad she posted these tonight. I was going to totally write about the crappy night I had and how I flipped out on my husband over dinner…

But sharing this is totally better!!

Maybe tomorrow I’ll tell the meltdown story.

Till next time…
