WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean Review

February 6, 2011 | By Heidi | Filed Under: review | 2 Comments

I’m a sucker for infomercials. Everything always seems lovely when they showcase it in an hour segment. The products do wonders, they amaze, they will change your life!

In reality – they are generally mediocre at best.

That brings me to Wen. I first saw Wen on an infomercial with Alyssa Milano and Chaz Dean. I was intrigued, I’ll admit it. The infomercial sucked me in. I wanted to buy it right then but was hesitant because of the cost. So I asked Santa. Winking smile

And Santa delivered!

For Christmas I got three 6 oz bottles of Wen in 3 flavors – Sweet Almond, Lavender and Fig. I believe my mom, er Santa got these here.

First reaction was that the bottles were tiny! And then I read the instruction booklet – yes I said booklet!

Rinse, separate hair into 4 parts, use 10-12 pumps on each area, massage starting at the roots, comb through with a wide toothed comb, clip up and finish shower, massage again and rinse with cool water. Add in 2-3 pumps as a leave in to soaking wet hair. Do not towel dry. Only use a blow dryer with an attachment…

Really? All these specific instructions for a hair product. I was in over my head. My hair was past my shoulders and is curly and color treated. It’s thick and I don’t have a clip to clip it up in the shower and have limited time in the morning and who the heck wants to shock their system with a cool rinse first thing in the AM?

But I tried it anyway. And wow. The results were lovely! My hair was soft and shiny!!

I wasn’t sure what styling products to use so I didn’t use any. And at first I was blowing my hair partially dry with cool air, which was just making it look frizzy, in my opinion anyway so eventually I stopped that and just let it air dry. This seemed to work better.

I worked my way through all of the flavors with Sweet Almond Mint being my favorite, Lavender next and Fig made my eyes water and my hair smell funny. All of them make my scalp tingle and all of them make my hair soft, smooth and shiny.

I was still having an issue with the lack of styling product so I looked into buying one of the Wen products. I was also running out of the cleansing conditioner. I found this deal for a little over $35 delivered I got a a larger bottle of the cleansing conditioner, a styling crème, a comb, texture balm and the hair repair mask!

And here it is!

01/25/2011

Ok, so I love the styling crème and I liked the balm when I used it once, I will use it again I’m sure, but the styling crème is great!

What I love about Wen is that it makes my hair feel clean, yet soft and shiny. It really did wonders for my curly hair when it was long and I’m working through the differences now that it’s shorter again.

What I don’t love about Wen is the cost…although, I do use less product and have been washing my hair every other day rather than every day. I also have found that it leaves my hair flaky. Not like itchy scalp like dandruff, but flaky like the product is flaking off flaky. I have read online that other people have had this problem as well. I am wondering if I am using too much product or something. Not sure, it’s still a work in progress.

I want to try the Tea Tree Oil flavor as well as the Cucumber Aloe flavor. And I guess there is a Pomegranate flavor as well!

And now some links for you:

10 Things I’m Loving Monday

June 28, 2010 | By Heidi | Filed Under: review | Leave a Comment

Time for another 10 things!

1. TRUE BLOOD

mmmm I love me some True Blood. Eric Northman is delicious…well until he smiles. lol

True Blood season 3

2. Word Rocks

I have a couple of these types of rocks. Mine say “laugh” and “love”. I’d love to get more and put them outside. I really like the “believe” one below and “create” too.

"Word Rocks"

3. Homemade Peanut Butter Cookies

My sister makes the BEST peanut butter cookies! She made some for work last week and she brought me some. They are YUMS!

3. Sobe Lifewater

Loving this right now. Gave up the pop…I KNOW, right? Amazing! I needed to get some energy from somewhere, so I tried these Lifewaters and they are pretty good…just need a bit of carbonation and they’d be perfect!

4. Pretzel M&M’s

Have you tried these yet? You need to! Go ahead, I’ll wait….they are delicious!

5. Alium Flower

I saw these flowers in front of a landscaping company and I want to fill our flower bed with them! They’re so cool, like flower lollipops.

6. Aquariums

I would LOVE an aquarium. I’d settle for one of these. But I’m afraid if I got one this would happen. Plus, they can get expensive to start and maintain. I just think fish are soothing and the sound of running water and bubbles are relaxing. I’ve had fish a few different times growing up, I’d love to get a tank again. Srsly, even if just goldfish. I love the fancy ones!

My Aquarium...

I’ve never been (that I can remember) to a “real” Aquarium either. I mean I’ve been to The Living Seas in Epcot. Maybe that counts…but photos like the one below are surreal and absolutely amazing. I want to go and see something like that. Maybe I’ll look into it! WOW!

7. Audio Books

I have a subscription to Audible.com. For about 23.00 a month I can pick two audiobooks from their HUGE library! It’s really cool. I’ve got a lot of books on my computer. I haven’t listened to them all, and probably won’t for a long time! Right now I’m listening to the 10th Sookie Stackhouse book “Dead In the Family.” Of course, it’s wonderful. I listen a work and sometimes I’ll listen at home but the book has to be REALLY good! lol This picture is my own too…my iPod, Skullcandy earbuds, and my lovely cozie.

8. Fonts

I love, love, love fonts! I have thousands of them. WAY too many! LOL

9. Fireworks

My dogs don’t like fireworks too much, but I do! I love seeing them and the BEST ones are at Disney World! I can’t WAIT to see them in October!! The picture below is from the 2010 Detroit Fireworks. Since the D is so close to Canada, they can be seen on both sides of the Detroit River, which is pretty cool!

10. Bret Michaels

Who isn’t loving Bret right about now? The man nearly died TWICE this year, AND won Celebrity Apprentice. He’s the man!

10 Things I’m Loving Saturday

May 8, 2010 | By Heidi | Filed Under: review | 1 Comment

After three pretty depressing posts, let’s change the pace and do a ‘”10 Things I’m Loving” post. I always like doing these and I like reading them when other bloggers write them.

1. Pioneer Woman

I am totally loving Pioneer Woman’s site and blogs right now. I recently discovered her site and I’m hooked. It’s in the Google Reader and it’s one that I read first every day! She’s a city girl who married a real live cowboy and is now living on a working ranch with him and their children. She homeschools and takes fabulous photos and I’m totally fascinated by her life and family! lol Below is one of her photos which links to her Flickr account. Check them out, they are awesome!! She’s self taught too…I wanna take photos like her when I grow up!

2. Gummy Bears

I love gummy anything, but I want to gobble these cute little bears up! I even have gummy vitamins! LOL

3. Cara Cara Oranges

The flesh of these oranges is usually pink or red or a darker orange than navel oranges. They are sweet and delicious and I’ve eaten about 40 of them in the past couple months. YUM!

4. Eclipse Breeze Gum

Best.Gum.Ever! As long as they make this gum I will never buy another gum! It’s minty and has a extra almost fruity hint of something. It’s fresh and lovely.

5. Adobe Photoshop

I love Photoshop! It’s a HUGE monster of a program that can do SO MUCH stuff. I haven’t even scratched the surface, but I am learning every day I use it!

6. Scentsy Tarts and Warmers

I bought a Scentsy tart warmer at a craft show at work. I, of course, got a purple (plum) one, and some foodie scents (Pumpkin Roll, Cutiepie Cupcake, Toasted Caramel Sugar, Warm Apple Pie)…well I plugged it in and OMG it is delicious!! The warmers work with a light bulb instead of a candle and the wax doesn’t evaporate. Very cool! And YUMS!

7. Eminem

I know he’s ridiculous and offensive, but I love me some Eminem! His new song, Not Afraid…omg LOVE IT! With lyrics like, “And I just can’t keep living this way, So starting today, I’m breaking out of this cage. I’m standing up, Imma face my demons. I’m manning up, Imma hold my ground. I’ve had enough, now I’m so fed up. Time to put my life back together right now.” ♥  The song below isn’t Not Afraid, but it’s another favorite…Beautiful.

8. New Mountain Dew Flavors

Well, I like MOST of them…there are 3 – White Out, Typhoon, and Distortion. White Out is kind of like Squirt, but without the kick of Squirt…it tastes like carbonated nothing. But I drink it, cuz it’s non. Typhoon is like a punch, it’s pretty good. And Distortion? YUCK! It’s supposed to be lime, but it’s horrible. I’ve drank maybe ONE and not again! Bluck. But new Dews are exciting and I am STILL addicted. I need a 12 step program. Srsly.

YES!

9. Wilderness Lodge @ Walt Disney World

We’re going to Disney World in October and will be staying at the Wildreness Lodge! I am SOOO stinking excited and READY for a vacation! I need a break from life and to just be able to RELAX and have fun. And I cannot wait to take my new camera there for a spin!

10. Lilacs

When I was younger, my sisters and I used to have a “Lilac Festival” whenever the neighbor’s lilacs would be in bloom. We, with the 2 neighbor boys, would pick all or most of the lilacs and parade around the yard with them. We were young and it was fun! lol Lilacs always remind me of that.
