Weekly Weigh In – Week Three

May 2, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: health, Weighing In | Leave a Comment

wwweighin3

So the third weigh in has come and gone.

I had another loss this week!

3.1 pounds loss for a total of 14.7.

I’m almost at the 15 pound mark!!

What I did this past week:

I am still following Simple Start and I’ll be completely honest and say that I didn’t start my week out all that great.

My mother in law made us stuffed cabbages or Gołąbki as my husband and his family call them. And I may have ate my weight in them two nights in a row. I am not proud of this, but they are delicious and they can’t be all THAT bad.

I moved on tho, and got it back together for the rest of the week. Weekends are hard for me though.

There’s the possibility I may go out to eat and I don’t really think I’m at the point where I can confidently go out and make great choices. I mean, I try for sure, but I don’t really know how to count what I eat.

Speaking of counting, I didn’t this week. I started to and then I just didn’t really track anything.

I need to get back on that. I will work on it this week.

I have also been walking during my lunch and break at work. I walk up the structure. It’s 6 floors and this week most days I was there (Mon I was off) I walked it twice. Luckily it was chilly out this week, so I didn’t get too sweaty. Soon though, I will need to walk in the building to stay cool.

Here is my fitbit dashboard for the past week:

fitbitdash

My profile is here if anyone wants to follow me on fitbit. Right now my goal is 5000 steps. I plan on setting that higher as I work up to more steps.

I have been thinking though that if I were walking on a flat surface for a half hour a day and not up a slanted slope that I’d get more steps in.

May have to test that theory next week.

So what did I eat this week?

Nothing new really. I made steel cut oatmeal for the week and mixed fruit in it most days with a shot of liquid Skinny Girl Stevia. It was pretty good. I got some vanilla extract to try next week with the fruit. I actually like oat bran a lot more than the steel cut oats but I don’t have enough to make multiple servings, so when I run out of oats I will buy more oat bran.

My husband brought home some already cooked, seasoned deliciously, chicken breasts which were very convenient to just slice up and put in a Flat Out wrap or in a sandwich for lunch. I need to do that myself because it saved me a lot of time getting my lunches together on the days I ate those.

This week I am going to track better and keep on doing what I’ve been doing!

Till next time…

Weekly Weigh In – Week Two

April 25, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: health, Weighing In | Leave a Comment

wwweighin2

Week two…done!

This week I lost again! 2.8 pounds!!

So 11.6 pounds total.

If you know Weight Watchers, this means I got a 10 pound ribbon this week!

This week: I added walking in the parking structure to my daily routine. I started walking in the structure on my lunch or breaks during the week while at work before we went to Disney world in November. I wanted to lose some weight for the trip and get back into the swing of walking. I had a number of shoe issues though, which included giving myself HUGE blisters and buying and returning 2 pairs of shoes. I finally just brought my old pair and killed them. I haven’t worn them since. I loved those shoes too!

Anyway, so I started walking. All this week I walked up the structure from the third floor to the sixth and then took the elevator down to 1 and walked back up to 3. Next week I think I may start at one and then walk up to six and then down to three or down further. I think last year I was up to walking all the way up and down it at least once. People walk inside the building but I get too warm and don’t like people to see me walking. Maybe I need to not care about that. Funny, that’s what bothers me.

I ate ok this week. Saturday I went out with my mom and two of my aunts. Dinner wasn’t the best eating and points wise, but I’m learning. I can see how going out may be a challenge. And Easter was ok too.

Overall the biggest thing I struggle with is still breakfast. I may need to steer away from traditional breakfast foods and go more towards like an egg salad sandwich on a thin sandwich round and a piece of fruit or the sandwich with yogurt and fruit. I did make steel cut oats on Sunday and ate them most of the week and I do really like Oat Bran with fruit. My favorite has been oat bran with cinnamon and canned (in 100% fruit juice) peaches. I think I may have wrote about that last week.

I don’t struggle with eating breakfast, I struggle with just the oatmeal being enough food to keep me until lunch or not feeling hungry again in an hour. So then I add an egg or something with protein and then I feel like it’s too much. I don’t know. Still a work in progress.

This week I will try to just stay focused on program and try new foods and food combos.

Till next time…

Weekly Weigh In – Week One

April 17, 2014 | By Heidi | Filed Under: health, Weighing In | Leave a Comment

wwweighin1

Week one is officially done!

Today was my first weigh in day at Weight Watchers. Do how did I do?

I lost 8.8 pounds!!

Now, I know this isn’t the normal. I totally ate differently this week than I have in a long time. I am following the Simple Start program right now so there is not a lot of counting points, but I think I did pretty well in counting the ones I needed to.

I am sure there will be set backs and weeks where I don’t lose or weeks where I will gain. I also know that in the beginning when you start eating healthier, you do lose weight. I’m not expecting this kind of results every week.

It’s just really nice to see that working hard all week and really trying paid off.

What did I eat all week?

Breakfast: This depended if I was at work or not. On the weekend I had hot oat bran with PB2 in it and a banana. If I was at work it varied from fat free greek yogurt with fruit, an attempt at an egg quesadilla, fat free cottage cheese, to a chicken breast on a flat one sandwich thin.

Lunch: I tried to have something different for lunch every day. Mostly chicken breasts with some type of vegetables. Although I did have a super yummy taco salad one day that have to make sure is in my regular lunch rotation.

Dinner: Again, mostly chicken, veggies, and brown rice. Last night I made sloppy joes and didn’t eat a bun and made a salad with the meat. Again…delicious!

I did not take my soup to work this week. Maybe I will next week although my lunch and break schedule next week is stupid so I’ll need to eat at my desk and not have time or really be able to warm anything up. I think I’ll have a lot of salads and sandwiches next week.

Being on this program this time around has been a lot of planning. I plan out what I am going to have for breakfast and lunch as well as bring a snack or two. If I eat the snacks I know they are good for me and if not, that is fine too.

This week I had issues with getting the grains in at breakfast. I think I either need to make my own breakfast sandwiches or bring in hot cereal in the morning. I don’t really care for oatmeal though. I may try Cream of Wheat since I don’t mind the oat bran all that much. It doesn’t really taste like anything but maybe if I get the chocolate flavored PB2. I really just want to try it before buying it (ha, just one clicked it on amazon – DAMN YOU ONE CLICK!!!) Anyway, looks like I’ll be trying that after Saturday. I’ll report on it next week.

What else…oh, I wrote down everything I ate. Like I said, I’m Simple Starting so I didn’t count points unless I needed to. Simple Start is a lot like the old Core program where some foods are considered ‘power foods’ and have zero points. They are the same type of foods and I did well on the core program. So I was happy to follow this plan. Well, not happy…I miss cake. And OMG… LAST NIGHT, the night before weigh in, my husband went to get Coldstone or Baskin Robbins…some kind of ice cream and he asked me if I want anything. Usually, my Coldstone order is a sweet cream with almonds, caramel, and extra Heath. But last night? I declined. I didn’t even see if they have a lower fat option.

I simply worked too hard all week for one ‘snack’ that would taste delicious.

I can’t say I’ll have that kind of willpower again, but last night I said “no” to ice cream. That is something. Even my dinner tonight, on weigh in day, was still following program. I had a 6 oz steak, broccoli, brown rice, and a salad with lite dressing. Only thing that really needed to be counted was maybe the dressing and the Parmesan cheese on the salad. (it was a side Caesar without croutons and I tossed the Caesar dressing)  When I was in WW before, I’d use dinner on weigh in night as a ‘cheat’ meal and have what I wanted. Anything, pretty much, that I wanted. I don’t even want to do that right now.

Only other thing I want to add is that I wasn’t starving all week and seriously? I feel great. I didn’t have any sugar spike moments, which is something I was worried about and had been dealing with before I started WW again.

Anyone have any tips or recipes they’d like to share? Or if you need/want a weight loss buddy…. leave me a comment!!

Till next time…
